Was an ancient city, located in Greece in Southeastern  Boeotia, south of Thebes.It was location of the Battle of Plataea in 479 BC, which an alliance of Greek city-States defeated the Persians.

Pausanias mentions that Plataea was native (Ionians), which originated in the Greek mythology the daughter of Plataea Assopos hence the name
